This Grade II-listed former barn tucked away in a quiet spot amongst beautiful grounds has been converted into a homely escape, and is perfect for couples looking to explore the Northumbrian coastline and Cheviot Hills.

All your creature comforts are at your fingertips in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner that welcomes you into this homely bolthole. High ceilings and gorgeous original beams complement colourful artworks and accents throughout, whilst contemporary touches add a dash of sophistication. The plush sofa and farmhouse-style dining set invite weary walkers to sit back and relax, whilst the characterful country cottage-style kitchen provides everything you need to rustle up perfect picnics and romantic dinners. Decorated in soft tones with whimsical touches, the king-size bedroom and accompanying bathroom offer a peaceful haven to retire to; stargaze through the skylight as you lie in bed. Step outside to find a small lawned seating area adjacent to the cottage, where you can enjoy a drink while listening to the birdsong and watching the wildlife pass you by. There are further seating areas within the wider grounds to enjoy. Private parking for one car is also available.

This rural spot on the fringes of Lowick (3.5 miles) is a paradise for keen outdoor explorers, with the Kyloe Woods and Holburn Moss waiting to be explored just 1 mile from the cottage. Accessed by the causeway within 7 miles of the doorstep, venture to the enchanting Holy Island, which boasts a wonderfully sandy beach and majestic castle. Those who love nothing better than exploring the great outdoors are spoilt with the breathtaking landscapes of the Cheviot Hills (19.5 miles). At the foot of the Cheviot Hills, Wooler (7.5 miles) offers a fabulous array of local shops, pubs, and eateries, along with some wonderful historic churches and buildings.

Ive been to this location twice. And I plan to go again and again. Its a super location, steeped in history, with beautiful grounds and lots of wildlife, birdsong, and the wonderful sound of a rippling beck only a few steps away from the cottage. It is ideal for anyone who likes to get away from the humdrum of everyday life. The hosts could not be Read moremore welcoming and helpful. A great place for ramblers, and a short journey through fabulous countryside to Lowick for provisions or the small picturesque town of Wooler makes for a lovely afternoon out. Not too far from Berwick upon Tweed, and many great locations along the coast. My kind of paradise!!! Hide

Excellent cottage which fulfilled all of our expectations. Ideal picturesque location to explore surrounding areas including Cheviots and Coast. Good local walks accessible from the cottage where the peaceful roads to and from are littered with Pheasants, Hares and Partridges.

Beautiful little cottage, very well appointed. In a lovely rural location, and yet an easy drive to the numerous local attractions, and coastal walks, as well as walks from the door step.

We are return visitors to Horseshoe Cottage, and it is always a joy to come back. The cottage is immaculate and the countryside setting is beautiful. The owners Christine & Alan are the best of the hosts. What a splendid retreat from the hustle and bustle. Very attentive and welcoming, but not intrusive hosts, Alan and Christine have built a delightful cottage for two (a slightly larger one across the courtyard sleeps more people). This is our second visit to Horseshoe Cottage, we enjoyed it so much last year, we decided to return again. The cottage is the perfect spot, to get away from it all. After a very long drive, arriving at this location is heaven. The location is extremely tranquil and you start to unwind the moment you arrive. The owners have thought of everything inRead more this property, even down to providing the bedside cabinets with a torch each, just in case it should be needed. The place is absolutely spotless, helped by the fact that no pets are allowed, which for us is perfect and getting harder to find. The wonderful owners are on site should you need anything, and are extremely helpful. We cannot praise Horseshoe Cottage highly enough. We would highly recommend this property after spending 2 weeks here, 2 years on the trot. Hide
