Poised on the banks of the River Coquet in historic Warkworth, this handsome hideaway, boasting distant views of Warkworth Castle, is the perfect setting for a peaceful getaway with family and friends.

Beneath the beautiful brick exterior, you’ll find a haven of period charm in the cosy lounge that leads off the spacious entrance hallway. The open fire and bay window framing river views set a peaceful ambience; the stylish dining room next door echoes the cottage’s rich heritage with a beautiful brickwork fireplace. Flooded with natural sunlight, the kitchen/diner not only enjoys a delightful country cottage finish but also benefits from a set of patio doors to the garden. On the first floor, three beautifully furnished bedrooms beckon tired travellers, arranged as one king-size room and two super-king-size bedrooms that both convert to twins. Occupying the second floor, set beneath the eaves, is a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room and breathtaking views. With distant views of Warkworth Castle as a backdrop, the enclosed garden offers a large, sweeping lawn and furnished patio to enjoy. Public parking is available nearby at The Butts (100 metres).

With riverside walks along the River Coquet, it’s hard not to fall in love with the idyllic village of Warkworth, which is home to a great selection of artisan shops and boutiques. Cross the river via The Butts and follow the country road for just under a mile to reach the fabulous Warkworth Beach, a wide sandy stretch perfect for fishing, bracing walks and surfing. Just 2 miles away, the neighbouring village of Amble is another seaside delight, home to the Amble Harbour Village, where you can browse independent crafts and sample seafood snacks. There are plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling within the rolling hills and riverbanks of the Ingram Valley (20 miles).

Heron House is so lovely! Its beautifully furnished, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The welcome hamper was generous and much appreciated. The back garden is beautiful, it was lovely sitting outside listening to the birds, whilst the front garden overlooks the Coquet river - and we did see the heron! The property is well situated in WarkwoRead morerth, ideal for exploring the local area. The castle is stunning, there are footpaths around the village, there are riverside walks and its an easy 15 minute walk to the beautiful beach. The Masons Arms pub is very friendly with good beer and food. We loved our stay in Heron House and are already planning a return visit. Hide

Lovely stay in Heron House for my husbands 60th Birthday. House was clean, modern, quiet & comfortable. Not far from beach or Warkworth castle so in walking distance. Definitely recommend.

Heron House was a fabulous base for the week. It was spacious and well laid out with all the needed kit and a lovely welcome hamper! The location is very peaceful with very easy parking (no off street parking often puts us off but this was no problem at all). Plenty to do in a short distance with a party ranging from 14 to 80.

Our family loved Heron House. It was in a great location with views of the river and the castle. It had everything we needed and we loved playing some of the many board games. The bedrooms were spacious. We loved the goodies in the welcome hamper and our dog loved her treats too. She also enjoyed the garden. We made some very special memories at HeRead moreron House. Hide

We had a fabulous holiday at Herron House. The house is absolutely fabulous with every thing you could possibly need. What a wonderful time we had at Herron House in June. Lovely house: everything you could need was provided with plenty of equipment. We cooked every day in the House and found all the pans, crockery, cutlery we needed. We have stayed in many houses and cottages over the years and this surpassed all in resources: how many games can you play in a week... or how many books can you read!!! Lovely large beRead moredrooms with super views ... lovely cot included, once we worked out how to assemble it!! Beds were comfy and bath/shower spacious and perfectly supplied with toiletries... and what a welcome basket.. yummy!! The location was delightful: loved watching the herons on the river from the windows. We spotted deer one day. Although there was no off road parking, we managed to park outside the house every day with our three cars. We loved that we could walk to the castle, pubs and town within minutes.. beautiful place.. would love to stay again. Hide

We celebrated a family birthday at Heron House and it was perfect for 7 adults and a dog. The house is well equipped, clean and beautifully furnished but feels comfortable and homely. The welcome hamper was the best we haveRead more ever come across! Parking even for 3 cars was never a problem. There are fast EV chargers in Alnwick. We would love to return. Hide
