Tastefully designed by its artist owner, this romantic retreat sits amid gorgeous gardens in the countryside between Northumberland’s National Park and coastline. Pet-friendly, it features Scandi-style furnishings and a wood burner in the living space, while the sanctuary-like bedroom has a roll-top bath in its en-suite.
Approached along a hedge-lined lane, this Coquet Valley cottage impresses from the outset. Pull on to the gated driveway, and floor-to-roofline glazing gives a first glimpse of the uber-cool interior. Park, then unpack via a handy entrance hall with bespoke storage before turning left into a stunning open-plan living space. Apex ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and that end-wall of glass bring the wow-factor, while a sofa close to the Smart TV and wood burner ensure there’s no compromise on comfort. Behind, the dining suite adds an infusion of colour which continues in the kitchen’s cabinetry. A breakfast bar and window seat add to the informality. Head back through the entrance hall, and the king-size bedroom is blissful, with its own Smart TV, luxury robes and linens, and blackout blinds. The en-suite bathroom is equally indulgent, with a pretty roll-top bath and walk-in shower. Step straight from the lounge area onto your patio, which is furnished for al fresco dining. Beyond, the main gardens – shared with the owner, but reassuringly private – are divided into a series of ‘rooms’, each with distinctive planting and unique features. There’s also a walled vegetable garden, filled with cutting flowers and soft fruits – you may find some of the produce in your complimentary welcome hamper!
