Backed by fields and boasting a pretty cottage garden, this two-bedroomed bungalow is bursting with character. Within half a mile of a village inn and only 3 miles from Embleton Bay, it’s perfect for any party of four wishing to explore the Northumberland coast and countryside.
Step through the porch and on one side of the entrance foyer, the first of your two bedrooms – a double – overlooks the front garden. Opposite, the lounge has a wood burner set into an inglenook fireplace, soft seating and a Smart TV. A door at the far end leads into an inner hallway, off which you’ll find a family bathroom with both a shower and a free-standing roll-top bath. Across the hall, the master bedroom has a super-king-size bed which, for ultimate flexibility, can be made up as twins on request. The kitchen/diner spreads across the back of the property– a lovely social hub, it’s bathed in light thanks to rooflights, a window and sliding doors onto the garden. Step through those doors, and the furnished patio is bordered by seasonal and scented plants. Beyond, the lawn is edged by further mature specimens, and backs onto a field where livestock graze. You’ll also find a garden shed for bike storage, while on-street parking out front means your car can be just moments from the front door.
Get a flavour of local life at the village tavern or head to Alnwick for self-catering supplies – the town is famous for its Harry Potter-connected castle and quirky Barter Books shop. For coastal discoveries, visit the golden sands of Embleton Bay. Take a tour of the castle ruins at the southern end of the beach, or head north along the coast path to Football Hole Beach, a small but beautiful bay where seals, seabirds and dolphins often put in an appearance. Further on, Beadnell Bay is popular for sailing, sea kayaking, windsurfing and scuba diving, while Seahouses offers boat trips to the wildlife-rich Farne Islands, and Bamburgh is home to another iconic castle.
