Get the whole gang together at this delightful single-storey cottage sitting just 8 miles outside the historic market town of Morpeth. Sleeping six, this is an ideal accommodation choice for large families or a group of friends in search of a smart stone cottage to call home while they discover the beautiful Northumberland coastline together. Spend a wonderful morning exploring the 7-mile-long stretch of sand at Druridge Bay Country Park (7 miles) or make a beeline for the village of Warkworth (8 miles) to admire its impressive 12th-century castle and village amenities. Harry Potter fans can visit the famous Alnwick Castle just 12 miles away. Alternatively, stroll along the beautiful marina in the friendly port of Amble (10 miles), or head into the town of Rothbury (10.5 miles) to visit historic Cragside House and Gardens – the first home in Britain to be lit by hydroelectricity.

From the private parking area (there’s room for three cars), step through the back door of your cottage, and you’ll be immediately greeted by the sleek and stylish kitchen. Continue through a connecting door to find yourself in the welcoming open-plan lounge/diner with lovely garden views. Natural light streams into this welcoming space, creating a bright and cheerful area for socialising with loved ones. A door from the lounge leads to a long hallway that takes you to three restful bedrooms – two beautifully styled king-size and one pretty twin. Completing the layout, you’ll find a chic family bathroom with a shower over the bath located beside the bedrooms.

Outside, discover a generous garden that’s divided into two main areas: a charming space with garden furniture and a BBQ that’s ideal for al fresco dining and dark sky star gazing, and a wide-open section that’s perfect if the kids want to let off some steam. There are also a couple of bench seats by the back door, settle here for morning coffees or to pull on your walking boots.

Absolutely fabulous cottage. Well equipped kitchen, and the air fryer was a boon. Very comfortable sofa and beds. The large enclosed garden was great for the dogs too, and some lovely local countryside walks on the doorstep. The parking is just across the road from the cottage and there is plenty of room for cars. The location was fabulous, justRead more off the A1 it was so easy to get round all the sights. Just a 12 minute drive to Morpeth, with supermarkets, and only 20 minutes to Alnwick Castle and Gardens. We visited Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands, Seahouses and did some lovely drives along the coastal road. There is still so much to see we must plan another visit! Hide

A good base to see the sights in Northumberland 2 minutes from A1, we really liked Amble, the weather was great which was a bonus. I think the owners of Helm cottage really thought of everything that you may need from kitchen utensils to garden chairs. Thank you for a great 3 days.

We stayed for a week at The Helm Cottage; a real last minute decision, but definitely worth it. A lovely, cosy cottage equipped with everything you could need. Plenty of parking across the road, a large garden which our dogs loved, benches for sitting in the sun, and comfy beds and sofa. Well placed for going to the coast and the Northumberland nRead moreational park, as well as Hadrian's wall, Cragside, Newcastle, and further afield. Great food from the Running Fox at Felton and the Harbour Fish Bar in Amble, as well as the Fish Shack in Amble, and the Blagdon farm shop. We had a lovely break and look forward to returning very soon. Hide
