Experience rural Northumberland living at its finest at this picture-perfect bungalow sitting in the peaceful village of Edlingham, just 6 miles outside the market town of Alnwick. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms, this is the ideal accommodation option for small families or groups of friends in search of a bright and cheerful rural retreat to call home while they discover the wonders of the Northumberland coastline together. Spend happy hours strolling along the beach at Bamburgh or exploring the island of Lindisfarne, and in the evening, come home to the cottage’s spacious living room to relax and warm your toes by the crackling wood burner.
Park your car in your private parking space (there’s room for two vehicles) and take a moment to appreciate the lush, green landscape that surrounds this detached bungalow. Enter through the back door, which is accessible for wheelchair users, and you’ll discover a handy boot/utility room where you can store all your outdoor gear. Head along the spacious hallway and you’ll discover a delightful open-plan living room/kitchen/diner that offers superb country views. There’s even a telescope by the window in the living area, so you can take a closer look and keep an eye out for wildlife. When it’s time to eat, head to the smart kitchen area to cook up a storm for your loved ones, which you can enjoy at the stylish dining table. Alternatively, you can head out into the enclosed front garden and dine al fresco on the patio. After dinner, treat yourself to a glass of wine under the stars, or head back to the living area to check out the stars through the telescope – the cottage is located in an area that is famous for its dark skies. When it’s time for bed, you have two lovely bedrooms to choose from – a smart king-size which has an en suite bathroom with a shower over the bath; and an inviting twin (can be converted on request, at time of booking) that has Jack-and-Jill access to the bungalow’s shower room, which also connects to the hallway.
After breakfast, set off on a pleasant stroll through the village of Edlingham. The cottage sits just 400 metres from the ruins of the village’s 14th-century castle and its 11th-century church. Alternatively, explore the castle and gardens in Alnwick (6 miles), or hike along the sand dunes at Alnmouth (10 miles). Further afield, discover the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectric power at Cragside (9 miles), or head into Craster (13 miles) to treat yourself to some of its world famous Buckingham Palace-worthy kippers.
