Embrace a little bliss with your special someone at this beautifully converted single-storey barn sitting on a working hill farm in the North Pennines. Sleeping two people in one bedroom, it’s an ideal accommodation choice for romantic couples dreaming of a welcoming cottage to call home while they enjoy a peaceful break in Northumberland together. Set off to Allendale to explore its lead mill, local shops and cafes, and in the evening, come home to set up a romantic dinner for two in the cottage’s patio garden. From the private parking spot, step into the cottage’s porch and shake off your boots. Continue through to the inviting garden room and take a moment to appreciate the pretty meadow views that stretch all the way to the fells of Allendale through the wide picture windows, before you head to the traditional-style kitchen to rustle up some dinner. Share a romantic dinner for two at the wooden dining table in the large lounge/diner, or head out onto the patio to dine alfresco. After dinner, play board games in the lounge/diner, snuggle up in the lounge area, or make a beeline back to the garden room, where you can stargaze Northumberland’s famously starry skies through the glass roof. When the day is done, retreat to the generously sized bedroom, which offers a king-size bed, as well as a single. In the morning you’ll wake up to magnificent views across a deep ravine to Whitfield Fell, before you head to the handy shower room for your morning shower. The cottage’s bright conservatory is a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee. Head into the town of Hexham (9.5 miles) to explore the magnificent Hexham Abbey, which dates back to the 7th century. Afterwards, browse its delightful array of independent shops and cafes. Alternatively, lace up your hiking boots and head into the North Pennines National Landscape (14.5 miles). Trek across wild moorlands and remote valleys of this UNESCO Global Geopark, discovering tumbling waterfalls along the way.

For wildlife lovers, walkers and those who just want to get away from it all, this cottage is very well located. The thoughtful welcome pack needs a mention along with the excellent broadband connection. We had a great stay walking, photographing and generally relaxing.
