  • Minutes from the charming centre of Seahouses with its harbour, independent shops, pubs and restaurants
Property code: OC-CN103

This lovely, cosy, three bedroom cottage is located in the heart of the historic harbour area in Seahouses. As the name suggests, the cottage was once owned by the local Herring Master himself. Centrally located and with its own, off road parking, Herring Master’s Cottage is only a very short walk to the wonderful harbour, as well as the village centre with its wide range of shops, superb restaurants and friendly local pubs!

Step inside this traditional fisherman's cottage and you'll immediately feel at home. There's a cosy wood burner in the stone-built inglenook fireplace in the spacious lounge, with comfortable sofas and an armchair just perfect for curling up and relaxing in after a long day on the beach or cycling through the rolling countryside. Entertainment is provided by a Smart TV with Blu-ray player. The contemporary kitchen/diner is light, airy and well-equipped with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave oven and washing machine and there's seating for up to six around the dining table. You'll also find the bathroom on the ground floor with shower over bath, washbasin and WC. Upstairs, there are three cosy bedrooms, one with an original cast iron feature fireplace. Two are doubles while the third bedroom has bunk beds suitable for children or young adults. Each bedroom has plenty of storage.

Outside there is a decked area with a table and chairs for dining outside, as well as a gravelled area for your car.

You can see and walk to the magnificent Bamburgh Castle from Seahouses' beach or take the coast road for a scenic drive. The lovely beach and sweeping bay at Beadnell is a two minute drive in the opposite direction and well known locally for a range of water sports you can join in with or sit back and watch. Trips to the Farne Islands, days out in nearby Low Newton-by-the-Sea and the pretty harbour village of Craster with their walks to Dunstanburgh Castle, trips to Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Holy Island and so much more, are all on your doorstep. Herring Master’s Cottage is a great base from which you can explore all that stunning Northumberland has to offer.

The cottage is in an excellent location close to all amenities in the village. The private parking was most appreciated with room for 2 cars which is good bonus. The sofas and beds were very conformable. I was concerned about the proximity of the pub as I thought it might get noisy, but this time of year it was okay but might be an issue in the sumRead moremer months. I would suggest more infornation in the info pack would be useful eg., local amenities, good places to visit, walks and other tourist info plus details of the nearest bottle bank as you can't put glassing the recycling. This was our 4th year in a row staying in this property. We love seahouses and the location is perfect (parking space is a bonus). However, we arrived at 5pm on a cold January day with our 2 year old and 4 month old baby to find that the place was freezing and all the radiators were off. Logs werent available either, despite being log season. ThRead moree house itself now feels tired and in need of a bit of TLC. It didnt feel very clean, the oven was dirty, dog hair all over the rug and cobwebs in every room. It needs a wee bit of love and sadly, I dont think we will be back again next year. Hide

Excellent location, comfortable, needs some updating. Sleeps 6 easily, however the table isnt big enough for 6 to sit and eat.

Good location, needs an upgrade of kitchen wear. I wouldnt advise a winter stay as cottage was cold and only had one small radiator in lounge. Bedroom radiators were adequate, but kitchen radiator was boxed in by the table. All the furniture was too soft for comfort, this is important to the older generations.

The cottage has a great location so close to all the shops, facilities and only a short walk to get to the beach. Having a parking space is a real bonus. The cottage has everything you need in terms of kitchen equipment. A great base for a holiday in Seahouses and Northumberland.

Enough space to park two vehicles, best to reverse a car in. Large lounge with two decent sized settees, good TV and reception, plenty of leaflets of local places to visit. Bedroom comfortable. Very close to two pubs and the harbour. Large kitchen with table a nice place to eat rather than in the lounge, plenty of storage, crockery and glasses etc,Read more good size fridge/ freezer. All three bedrooms spacious, everywhere clean and tidy. Slight downside no garden but if visiting places no need for one. Hide

The location is great, just round the corner from Seahouses centre. Off street parking is a real bonus in an area with very narrow streets. The living room is large and comfy. The only bathroom is downstairs so may not suit everyone. The kitchen table seats 5 at a push and if you have small kids youd need to take your own plastic crockery.

Excellent location, perfect for strolls into Seahouses and along the coastal path. Cleanliness could be improved and odd details (fresh paint, new mattress/duvet etc) would make a big difference. However, it was a great base for a wonderful holiday.
