Newton Halt South is just a couple of miles from two of the best beaches on the Northumberland Heritage Coast and a short walk to a welcoming local pub and shop. Low Newton by the Sea boasts the much-acclaimed Ship Inn which serves great seafood and has its own micro-brewery. Nearby is the award-winning Joiners Arms gastro pub from where you can walk to another amazing three miles of white sand which forms Beadnell Bay. Five miles south, Craster village and harbour has always been famous for its kippers but is now also equally well know for The Jolly Fisherman Pub and restaurant which sits on the edge of the sea and so, has fantastic views. These, like most of the pubs in Northumberland, are child and dog friendly. From Seahouses you can take a boat trip to the Farne Islands where puffins and seals abound but where dolphins are also regularly seen. Just 15 minutes drive is Alnwick with its famous castle and gardens but also a regular outdoor market, four supermarkets and local shops.

Newly renovated to a high specification with sound and thermal insulation, this seaside style cottage has a Scandinavians style, modern interior. There is free, high speed Wi-Fi and a large wall-mounted Smart TV. The property is centrally heated.

Outside there is an enclosed dog-friendly garden which gets the sun most of the day and right into the evening. There is little light pollution and so the dark skies are truly spectacular for star gazing! There is direct access to countryside and woodland walks, with abundant wildlife to be spotted, sometimes even from the comfort of the leather sofa. There is off-road parking for two cars and a shed to store beach stuff and bicycles. The cottage is situated off a small, private, cul-de-sac.

This cottage also welcomes up to 2 well-behaved dogs.

Free Entry to Paxton House Grounds and Gardens when you stay at Newton Halt South. Countryfile Magazine has just awarded Embleton Bay, Beach of the Year

Larger Groups: If you’re holidaying with a larger party (up to 10 guests), Newton Halt South has a sister cottage which sleeps up to 4 and is located next door.

PLEASE NOTE:

Newton Halt lies adjacent to the railway line and about 100 yards from a level crossing with services up until about 11pm. However, the cottage has modern sound and thermal insulation and its price sensibly reflect its situation. Not withstanding its location with field and woodland views on the beautiful Northumberland Heritage coastline.

Convenient for short journeys to popular attractions in the coastal area and for country/coastal walks. Spacious enough for family. Trains mentioned in information do not greatly disturb, even the child with us.

Nice enough accommodation situated centrally, friendly pub round the corner, secure front garden handy for dogs. Living area was decent, although layout made evening TV viewing challenging, tv needs an adjustable mount. Well equipped kitchen. Main east coast line runs apx 8 feet from back wall of the house. Its a busy fast line not good for light Read moresleepers. Sleeping arrangements were very tight. IMHO 3 rooms have been squeezed into the space for 2. Might be ok for a family but very challenging for two couples. Ensuite was compact but useable. Hide

Ideal location for touring the area. Comfy beds, but bedding felt damp. Pretty frequent trains which rattled the place. Tired decor, ramp outside broken & slippery after rain. We were in the area for a wedding at nearby Newton Hall. We needed somwhere close and preferably on one floor as my wife's parents were staying with us (92 and 85). This fit the bill exactly. I have read a few reviews mention the trains and I can honestly say that you don't really notice them. We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage .Although the bed wasnt the most comfortable Ive slept on,everything was as described on the website. The close proximity to the railway was not a problem, far less intrusive than the average main road, and nothing in the early hours.Ideally placed for the sights we wished to visit.

This cottage is only really suitable for 4 people max, as its very compact with no wardrobe space in the second bedroom. Location is good but over all it needs some TLC, such as a refresh of the internal paint work and more dishes and cutlery to fully make use of the dishwasher.
