Gaze out across the dunes from this comfortable cottage in Bamburgh. With views of the famous, 12th-century castle, this single-storey retreat sleeps five guests across three bedrooms. Venture just 0.5 miles to the long, sandy beach, where you can paddle, swim and pick up the Northumberland Coast Path. Return to the cottage to bask in the sunny garden or light the wood burner.
Step into the house via the porch, where you can leave sandy flip-flops and muddy walking boots. Head into the bright lounge/diner, where you can sink back onto the soft seating and take in the far-reaching views. Lay a fire in the wood burner when it’s chilly, then flick through the channels on the Smart TV or choose a book from the shelves. The kitchen/diner has been designed with easy self-catering in mind. Whip up a meal to enjoy at the table by the window in the lounge/diner, or make fresh coffee in the machine and pull a stool up to the breakfast bar. Open the door to the garden on fine days. As night falls, head through to the single bedroom beside the lounge, the twin or the super-king-size, which has doors to a patio where you can sip your morning tea. Spill out into the lawned garden to play games with the children or sizzle supper on the BBQ. Open a bottle of wine and gaze up at the stars on clear nights. There is off-road parking for two cars.
Amble just 0.5 miles to visit the striking castle, which appeared in many episodes of the TV programme The Last Kingdom. Play a few rounds at Bamburgh Castle Golf Club, 1.5 miles away. Walk 3 miles along the sandy beach to Seahouses, where you can take a boat trip out to the Farne Islands.
