Property code: OC-C29288

Located within the grounds of a working farm, this former cart barn is now a charming cottage offering views of the sea and rolling countryside and is a warm and comfortable base to return to after exploring the nearby coastal villages. Walk to the nearest coastline from the doorstep (550 metres) and watch over the nature reserve from the bird hide. Drive to Ross Farm (4.5 miles) and then walk 1.5 miles to Ross Back Sands for another unspoiled beach and spectacular views of Bamburgh and Lindisfarne Castles. Cross the causeway to explore Holy Island (9.5 miles) and Lindisfarne Priory, discover historic Berwick-upon-Tweed (12 miles), and Bamburgh Castle, (8 miles), book a boat trip to the Farne Islands from Seahouses (12 miles), and visit magnificent Alnwick Castle and Gardens (18.5 miles).

Three stone steps lead down to the front door of this welcoming semi-detached property and into the hallway. You will find the utility/boot room where you can hang your coats and sit on the bench to take off your walking boots. There is also a useful sink to wash off any muddy bits. The two king-size bedrooms are located on the ground floor, each with a wall-to-wall window overlooking the patio garden and open hanging space for your clothes. One of the bedrooms has a glazed door with access to the patio outside. The contemporary bathroom completes the ground floor. Upstairs on the first floor is the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with dual aspect windows, a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, and an open-tread spiral staircase that leads to the mezzanine floor. The lounge has a comfortable sofa and two easy chairs for resting weary legs and unwinding after your day’s adventures, and there is a Smart TV and DVD, books, films and games for entertainment. The kitchen has a breakfast bar with two stools where you can sit with your morning coffee, and you will find everything you need to prepare a range of meals. Sit together at the table for relaxing dinners, play a game or plan your daily activities. The chill-out area on the mezzanine floor has a couple of bean bags and a small sofa to relax on and the sea views from the two large Velux skylights take in the Holy Island Causeway. This is a lovely place to sit with the binoculars and a drink to enjoy the changing light across the causeway and the dark, starry sky in the evenings.

Outside, to the rear of the property, there is an enclosed, courtyard-style patio with garden furniture accessible via one of the bedrooms. This can be a wonderful suntrap where you can sit with a drink whilst listening to delightful birdsong.
