Find independent shops and cafes on the High Street, stroll around the circular pier, play on the beach just 100 metres down the road, or browse the marina’s quirky retail ‘pods’ for gifts to take home. Book a boat trip to Coquet Island and explore nearby Hauxley Nature Reserve, a haven for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. Walk along the River Coquet to neighbouring Warkworth with its medieval castle, quaint village shops and stunning, beach. Explore nearby Alnmouth’s beach, golf course, and pub/restaurants (6.8 miles), and don’t miss a day at Alnwick Castle and Gardens (9.5 miles).
