Alongside its original 19th-century features, this fabulous cottage has been updated to feature contemporary decor that suits the clean walls and light-filled rooms. On the ground floor, a fabulous lounge/diner space with the comfiest sofas, a wood burner and a Smart TV invites you to enjoy restful evenings. Next door, find a spacious kitchen and a separate utility room. Both bedrooms are on the first floor, one with an en-suite bathroom and one with a large seating area by one of the property’s attractive arched windows. To complete the offering, a garden set to lawn sits at the back with outdoor furniture for mild-weather stays.

The beach can be reached in just half a mile, perfect for sunbathing days when the weather is warm and wildlife-spotting hikes through the dunes in the cooler months. A short walk along the coastline leads to Dunstanburgh Castle (2 miles), a remote keep with handsome ruins backed by exceptional sea views. Continue further onto the village of Craster (3 miles), an idyllic seaside spot famous for its delicious smoked kippers. The cottage is really well located for Alnwick, with its castle, gardens and other attractions and for the beautiful Northumbrian coastline and countryside. The A1 is nearby so swift access to North and South is easy. A converted chapel, the property is attractive and quirky, but very well thought-out by the owners, with some tasteful artwork and pRead moreersonal touches. Fabulous holiday house for a week close to the sea. Very quirky and unusual. Beds were comfortable. Everything there you could ever need. Farm shop next door with good opening hours. Two pubs in easy walking distance too.

We made a very good choice of accommodation - Kirkside is well placed in the village - several good places to eat, the village shop/ PO is so close, street parking posed no problem - we were usually able to park right outside the door - the beach is a 20 minute walk away. And, as we were lucky to have superb weather, we enjoyed a drink sitting inRead more the garden after a day out. Hide
