Offering exceptional architecture and a rich local history, nearby Hexham is a fabulous place to visit. Visit the Hexham Old Gaol Museum, admire the view of Hexham Abbey and tour the independent shops and pubs that the town has to offer. There’s also Hexham Racecourse a little further away (5.5 miles), a destination for a day at the races. The town is set deep in the Hadrian's Wall UNESCO World Heritage Site with incredible walking routes on offer close by and is also just a drive away from the city of Newcastle (21 miles).
