Filled to the brim with homely features and lived-in details, this Craster cottage provides an exceptional base on Northumberland’s heritage coastline. Readily accommodating six guests and dog-friendly for one or two canine companions, the property offers an utterly comfortable choice for any group of friends or family. It’s made for stays throughout the year with a delectable garden and a cosy wood burner-equipped lounge, and trips to the fabulous beaches nearby can be enjoyed throughout the year. Wrap up warm for a walk along the Northumberland Coast Path in cold weather or grab buckets and spades for afternoons on Embleton Beach (2.5 miles) when the sun shines.
There’s a traditional English feel to the décor of this three-storey cottage, with vintage-style furniture and soft accents accompanying pastel-coloured walls and fixtures. On the ground floor, the farmhouse-inspired kitchen/diner offers a sociable hub with space to cook and dine together. Just next door is a lovely lounge with cushy sofas, a wood burner and a Smart TV – a spot to retire to after dinner. You can, of course, take drinks outside and soak up the last of the day’s sun on the picnic bench, before retreating to the intimate conservatory. Upstairs, find three bedrooms laid out over the first and second floors. One bedroom is accompanied by an en-suite, and another family bathroom resides on the first floor.
The idyllic fishing village of Craster offers a marvellous starting point for Northumberland adventures – be sure to try some of the village’s famed smoked kippers during your stay. Just 2 miles away, you’ll find the impressive Dunstanburgh Castle, a remote English Heritage sight with dramatic sea views that’s accessible via the coastal path. There’s also a popular golf course near here (3 miles), extremely popular with keen golfers. Two further impressive attractions, Howick Hall (2.5 miles) and Alnwick Castle (7 miles) offer a fun day out just a drive away.
