Designed to complement the characterful original features with stylish contemporary interiors and charming coastal touches, this beautiful barn conversion nestled in the sleepy hamlet of Tughall Steads is a haven of pure tranquillity. This is the perfect base for families and groups of friends looking to discover the delights of the Northumberland coast.

A high vaulted ceiling, coastal colour palette and roaring wood burner in the homely lounge create a warming ambience that beckons weary travellers to unwind on the plush sofas and share stories of the day’s adventures. If you decide to eat in, the contemporary open-plan kitchen/diner offers plenty of space for culinary geniuses to get creative with new local flavours and enjoy their efforts with the whole gang seated around the rustic farmhouse-style dining table. When you can’t resist the call of bedtime, retire to the crisp linens of the ground-floor double bedroom, or head upstairs to find an en-suite king-size bedroom, and a quirky mezzanine twin room with low ceilings, a glass front and theatre-style curtains. Outside, soak up the last of the evening sunshine by dining alfresco in the decked courtyard amongst the cottage-style planting.

The quiet coastal hamlet of Tughall Steads, nestled between the villages of Newton-by-the-Sea and Beadnell, offers an array of scenic walking trails to discover. Those who love life on the water can dive into various water sports, including surfing, kayaking and wakeboarding at Beadnell Bay 4.5 miles away or hop aboard a boat trip to the Farne Islands from the harbourside village of Seahouses, 5 miles away. Back on dry land, culture vultures can explore the iconic coastal fortress of Bamburgh Castle (7.5 miles), the second-largest inhabited castle in the country at Alnwick (10.5 miles), or reputedly England’s most haunted castle at Chillingham (18 miles).

Samphire Barn was a genuinely great find, having holidayed in this area on many occasions' we have passed the turn off to the steadings many times and we are so pleased we decided to make the booking. It is well located for visiting the many beautiful beaches in the area. The accommodation is spacious and well equipped and more than comfortableRead more, we were particularly impressed with the quality and quantity of crockery and utensils. The log burner was easy to operate and made for a comfortable environment. There were great dog walks from the cottage through nearby fields. We were very impressed by the welcome hamper and the dog related items especially the notice relating to dog visitors. Thanks to the cottage owner Simon for contacting us in advance to warn us about roadworks impacting on accessing the accommodation which was more than helpful. We would have no hesitation in booking this property again. Hide

A great well equipped cottage in a location close to the beaches and places to visit. A car is essential to get about. Lovely couple of pubs in nearby Newton on Sea and Beadnell beach is a must.
