This charming holiday retreat sits within the beautiful Northumberland countryside, just 4 miles from the heritage coast and close to the historic market town of Alnwick (5 miles). The property has a choice of social spaces both indoors and outside, and is perfect for family getaways and holidays with friends. Nearby days out include Bamburgh Castle (12 miles) and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne (24 miles).

The stone cottage enjoys an open aspect, with far-reaching views across the surrounding fields. Inside, the rooms are bright and airy, with contemporary decor and plenty of natural light. At the heart of the home is the spacious kitchen, where you can try out new recipes whilst enjoying the views of the garden. There’s a sleek breakfast bar for perching with a morning coffee, as well as a cosy snug area – the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks. The property has a separate, formal dining room, along with an inviting lounge with sofas and armchairs arranged around a Smart TV. The three elegant bedrooms are upstairs – a king-size, a double, and a single, along with the stylish family bathroom. Outside, the sunny, south-west facing garden is fully enclosed and enjoys tranquil countryside views. Here, you’ll find a large lawn for playing outdoor games and a patio area for al fresco entertaining. There’s also a small, enclosed garden to the front of the cottage.

Craster, 4 miles away, is an unspoilt fishing village with a picturesque harbour. Spend a relaxing afternoon here, perusing the local arts and crafts shops and bird watching at the Arnold Memorial Nature Reserve. There are a number of popular coastal walks branching away from the village, including to the evocative ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. Heading south, you’ll discover the smugglers’ haunt of Rumbling Kern – a hidden cove that’s perfect for peaceful picnics.

This is a modern, spacious property particularly suited to guests with dogs as the garden is quite large and fully enclosed. It is a good central base for exploring the Northumberland coast.
