This sweet cottage is on the stunning Northumberland coast, just 200 metres from Seahouses’ picturesque harbour. Sleeping four guests, the sociable, open-plan property makes a great couples’ retreat or base for a small family seeking a peaceful, coastal escape. The popular village of Bamburgh is just 3.5 miles away, and for shopping and eating out, the historic market town of Alnwick is 16 miles to the south.
The stone cottage has an open-plan layout and has a stylish mix of original features and contemporary design. The vast lounge/kitchen/diner is a sociable space, with a choice of comfortable seating to relax on after a bracing coastal walk and a Smart TV for catching up on all your favourite programmes. At the far end of the room is a sleek kitchen area, with everything needed for a self-catering break, and there’s also an inviting dining table for sharing mealtimes as a group. The two king-size bedrooms are upstairs (please note one of the rooms has characterful sloping ceilings and low beams), one of which can be made up as a twin on request. Up here you’ll also find the sleek family bathroom. Outside, sip a morning coffee at the bistro set in the cute, shared courtyard.
Spend a quiet afternoon pottering around Seahouses, popping into the local shops and arts and crafts studios, before refuelling in one of the quaint cafes or coffee shops. For your supper, be sure to sample some delicious fish and chips, or pick up kippers from the iconic smokehouse. From the harbour, boat trips regularly depart to the Farne Islands, offering fabulous wildlife-watching opportunities. Seahouses has an unspoilt, sandy beach that leads all the way to Bamburgh Castle, 3 miles away.
