Enjoy a peaceful retreat with your loved ones at this gorgeous single-storey cottage surrounded by the rolling hills on a working farm in the Craster and Embleton area. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, it’s an ideal retreat for families or groups searching for a quaint and quirky cottage while they explore Northumberland's stunning coastline and countryside together. In the evening, come home to the cottage's lovely courtyard garden and dine alfresco with your loved ones as the stars come out.

Step inside this traditional stone cottage and you’ll be greeted by an inviting sun-drenched lounge with an impressive skylight. Take a moment to relax on the sofa in the sitting area while you soak up the garden views from the wide glass doors, then head to the country-style kitchen to whip up some tasty dinner. Gather everyone together in the elegant dining area to eat while you take in the warmth from the glowing wood burner. Alternatively, make your way to the garden to dine alfresco while you admire the spectacular country views. After dinner, head back indoors to chill out with a glass of wine in the spacious lounge. At the end of the day, there are two beautifully styled double bedrooms with period features to retire to.

Head 4 miles to the pretty village of Craster, where you can pop into a local restaurant to enjoy a plate of the village's famous Craster kippers for breakfast – apparently they're the breakfast item of choice for the Royal Family. Spend a fascinating day exploring the medieval ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle (5.5 miles), which is perched dramatically on the coastline. Alternatively, pack a picnic and head to Alnmouth’s sandy beach (11 miles). From there you can take a short drive to Warkworth Castle (4.5 miles) or Alnwick Castle (5 miles).

The cottage was beautiful, well equipped and clean. I loved the skylight in the living room and the sliding doors into the garden. Overall the layout if the property was excellent. I also thought the welcome packs were a nice little touch.

The entrance to the property doesn't do it justice as once inside it opens out into a spacious and comfortable living space that has been furnished to a high level.

Beautifully presented cottage. Warm, cosy and comfy. Fluffy white towels, quality bed linen and a washing machine! While sitting having our morning coffee, a little stoat would visit the garden while the cows overlooked.

Had a wonderful week at this quirky comfortable cottage. The garden is beautiful but a table and chairs would be good. You can see the main train line and trains passing but this wasnt a problem. Once inside the cottage it is so quiet and peaceful. (Although there was a dog barking quite regularly) The location is perfect for visiting all the beaRead moreches and villages and a perfect place to stay when visiting Northumberland. Hide

We loved our stay at The Snook. Such a great open plan space, well designed - slightly quirky - very clean and with everything we needed. The kitchen - with its 2 ovens and sharp knives - was one of the best we've had when on holiday. The bed (in the king size room) was so, so comfy. And even though the train track isn't that far away, you can onlyRead more just hear it in the day, and not at all at night. The outside area (with artificial grass) was spacious and while there are chairs, there's no table if that matters to you - but the inside space is light and airy so it may well not! It was quiet and peaceful and within easy reach of many of Northumberland's wonderful beaches. All in all, a great place to base yourself in this beautiful part of the country. Hide

We had a fantastic holiday the property is emaculate and very homely. It is perfect location wise in Northumberland giving you a central base to Alnwick, Seahouses and Bamburgh. The kitchen is well stocked with all utensils and pots etc provided with the wood burning stove which came with some starter logs and firefighters which provided a greaRead moret back drop to evening meals. The cottage came with Wifi, Smart TV, washer/dryer, Ironing equipment, and hair dryers in each room with a well equipped cleaning cupboard. We were provided with a bathroom and kitchen amenity pack that was a great touch when arriving without the essentials. Beyond the garden overlooks farmers fields with plenty of cattle which we loved and we did not find too noisy during the day/night. Would highly recommend and we would most definitely rebook. Hide

The cottage was as described, very clean and spacious with some quirky furniture. A good welcome pack and a folder with all the information you need. The odd friendly cow looking over the wall and really quiet at night and you can do a bit of star gazing through the glass roof. All in all a very pleasant stay and would certainly stay again.

Not a bad place to stay if you do not mind the constant barking from the neighbours dogs or the drilling from the builders in the attached property. Disappointed that we were not advised about the building works.
