This appealing semi-detached property, all on one level, offers a perfect holiday retreat for a couple or pair of friends to explore the outstanding attractions of the North Northumberland Heritage Coast. Discover Holy Island (7.5 miles), just be sure to check the tide timetable before crossing the causeway to this iconic landmark. Explore Lindisfarne Castle and the beautiful garden designed by Gertrude Jekyll. Take a ride on a steam train at the picturesque village of Etal (7 miles). The Heatherslaw Light Railway runs along the banks of a river, with wonderful views of the countryside and Cheviot Hills. At Heatherslaw, see a working water mill, heritage museum and pottery before the return journey. Explore the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (10 miles), to see pretty cobbled streets, the famous Elizabethan defensive walls and wonderful views across the River Tweed.

A splendid, vaulted ceiling with Velux windows and a glazed door opening to the courtyard garden flood the open-plan living/dining room with light. Beautifully furnished in muted tones, it has a large sofa and two armchairs on either side of the wood burner-effect electric fire, which is set inside a full-height wooden chimney breast. This inviting room also houses a charming country-style pine dresser, Smart TV, and dining table with two chairs. A section of wall in the streamlined galley kitchen has an area of exposed, original brick, a reminder of the cottage’s past life. In the spacious bedroom, a super-king-size zip-and-link bed can be made into twin beds on request. Light from Velux windows and soft shades in furnishings and bed linen make this room a peaceful space. The fully tiled bathroom provides a touch of glamour, with a whirlpool bath and twin hand basins.

Outside, a pretty paved courtyard garden with outdoor lights and patio plants is enclosed by old stone walls and fencing. It has a comfortable covered seating area and a wooden table and chairs.

Lovely cottage, great bathroom with spa bath. Location handy for the coast Berwick down to Alnwick. Village store really handy and had a good selection/range. Only one pub in the village was open when we visited, The White Swan. Food available but a limited menu, although the Fish and Chips I received was massive and good value for money,

A lovely weekend away. Dingley Dell has everything we could have wanted. Lovely decor, warm welcome, and 2 really good pubs within an easy walk where we had lovely food. Our small dog loved the small enclosed courtyard and the cottage was within easy reach of all of the most beautiful Northumbrian beaches and sights. Would really recommend.
