This beautiful cottage sits in the grounds of the elegant Grade II-listed Beadnell Hall, right in the heart of the village. Sleeping four guests, the property is ideal for couples and small families. The village of Beadnell sits within Beadnell Bay, which is known for its spectacular array of water sports, thanks to its sheltered waters. Head down to the golden, sandy beach (0.5 miles) to try a whole host of activities, including surfing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Keen walkers will also be in their element, with the stunning Northumberland Coast Path passing through the village. A 3-mile clifftop stroll will bring you to the colourful fishing village of Seahouses. Here, you can dine in one of the independent eateries, many of which serve freshly caught seafood, or perhaps take a boat trip from the harbour to visit the magical Farne Islands. Heading a further 3.5 miles along the coast, you’ll reach Bamburgh, where you can visit the iconic medieval castle and stroll along the pristine, white sand of Bamburgh Beach.

The cottage has been decorated in a contemporary style, with chic furniture, statement light fittings, and little pops of yellow to bring each area to life. The essence of the period property has not been lost, and beautiful exposed stonework and elegant sash windows add a charming quality to the living areas. In the lounge/diner, comfortable sofas sit alongside a roaring wood burner, providing a cosy spot to enjoy movie nights around the Smart TV. A large dining table sits at the opposite end of the room and is the perfect place for hosting dinner parties and family celebrations. Just off the main living area there is an additional lounge, with a sofa bed and a Smart TV. This is a great spot for children to hang out or for sneaking away and enjoying a few quiet moments with a coffee and your favourite book. Also on the ground floor is the stylish kitchen, with everything you need to whip up delicious meals for the group. Finally, completing the ground floor, a step leads up to a handy shower room. A flight of stairs takes you to the first floor, where you’ll find two charming bedrooms. As with downstairs, a yellow and blue colour scheme continues on this floor. The first bedroom is a gorgeous double, and the second is a twin (can be made up as a king-size on request).

Outside, an enclosed courtyard awaits. This area is a real sun trap and there is a table and benches for you to dine alfresco, along with a BBQ.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 twin (can be made up as a king-size on request)
  • 1 shower room with shower and WC. Separate WC on first floor

Lovely cottage in a lovely village. The owners were great when we couldnt find it ( our fault the fourth turn off looks like a private drive so discounted it) and had a small issue. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and this was a fantastic location to explore our first time in Northumberland. Fell in love with the area it is magical. Everything you wRead moreould need was provided and appreciated the welcome hamper and salt / pepper/ kitchen towel etc that was there made this so easy to settle in quickly. The only very small niggle was the heating. It was on a fixed programme and we couldnt work out how to override especially upstairs. This was fine when we were out most of the day but when it was raining and cold we relied on the wood burner - again amazing that kindling/wood was there for us. A fantastic holiday in one of the best holiday cottages weve stayed in. Highly recommend. Hide

The Shambles was a great base for our stay in Northumberland. Beadnell is a lovely village with good facilities and things to do and see close by (beach and harbour are great). Beautiful coastal walks to Seahouses and Bamburgh in one direction - we didn't get to walk in the other direction during this stay but will be back! Beadnell also a good Read morebase for days out further afield as it's pretty central to many key places we wanted to visit. The cottage itself was great, a nice cosy and comfortable place to come back to each day. Hide

We loved the Shambles but certain areas looked like they'd been overlooked during the cleaning. I'd love to return but live in France so it's quite far. Who knows?
