Pretty as a picture, this quaint cottage is a wonderful destination for friends or families wanting a getaway-from-it-all in this beautiful part of Northumberland. After a day exploring the nearby coast and countryside, relax in the welcoming lounge or the cosy snug, or sit outside and enjoy the garden.
Relish the inviting atmosphere in the cottage’s pretty lounge, where a wood burner sits within a huge brick-and-stone fireplace. You can snuggle up on the soft seating and recount your day’s adventures, read a book from the shelves or watch the TV or a DVD, accompanied by the warmth of crackling flames in the winter months. Alternatively, some of you may want to play games, watch TV or relax and do nothing in the elegant snug. When you’re hungry, the kitchen/diner is equipped with everything necessary to create delicious holiday meals, including a tall, retro-style fridge/freezer. Head up to the first floor to find the three bedrooms – a king-size with a walk-in wardrobe and a beautiful metal bed, and two twins, all sharing a spacious, bright shower room. The pretty lawned garden at the front of the house has seating where you can enjoy the sun, and there’s also a private garden at the rear, with stone steps up to a patio where you can dine alfresco while enjoying the views over the adjacent fields.
The cottage is set in Newham, a quiet hamlet in a beautiful rural location that’s surrounded by walks and cycle trails. There’s a traditional country pub in Ellingham, 2 miles, while the coast is just 5 miles away at Seahouses – spend the day on the beach or take a boat trip to the Farne Islands, then explore the shops and round the day off with a meal in one of the fabulous seafood restaurants.
