This gem of a seaside cottage is an absolute delight, filled with original features and charming touches. A stylish retreat for couples, friends or small families, it’s just metres from Bamburgh Beach and boasts a garden for summer dining and a wood burner for cooler evenings.
If you’re in the mood for rustic charm, this gorgeous property has everything, from the painted-clapboard exterior to stripped floorboards and planked doors. It’s all on one level apart from the few steps to the front door, and once inside you’ll find the heart of the home is its wood burner, set into a huge stone chimney. The cook will have everything they need in the sweet kitchen and, after you’ve enjoyed supper at the farmhouse-style dining table, you can gather for an evening of games, music, TV or reading. The tranquil atmosphere is aided by the soothing, pale colours and natural textures, and this theme is continued in the bedrooms, one king-size (with an en-suite shower room) and one twin (the latter can be king-size on request). There’s also a beautiful family bathroom, which boasts an elegant slipper bath in which to enjoy a long soak. Enjoy ball games on the long lawn and al fresco BBQs on the small patio.
The spectacular beach at Bamburgh is a great spot to walk, swim or learn to surf. The coastal fortress of Bamburgh Castle overlooks the beach and is also well worth a visit – perhaps as a comparison to the iconic Alnwick Castle, 16.5 miles, known as ‘the Windsor of the North’. The larger village of Seahouses is only 3.5 miles (you can walk there via the coast path, looking out for seals as you go), where you’ll find interesting shops and a variety of places to eat and drink.
