Enjoy a seaside escape at this pretty, family-friendly retreat, in an amazing spot just metres from the seafront in Seahouses – there are lots of things to see and do locally. It’s also in a great location for exploring the Northumberland coast, before coming back and relaxing beside the wood burner inside or outside on the patio with a drink.

Sitting in the old town area, the cottage is warm and homely with stylish interiors and a welcoming feel. Go into the comfy lounge/diner, kick back and relax in front of the wood burner and watch TV. You can enjoy sociable mealtimes at the dining table or grab a quick bite to eat at the breakfast bar in the kitchen and after dinner, head to bed in the three pretty bedrooms upstairs. There is a lovely double room with an ornamental fireplace, a sweet twin bedroom, and a cute single room. There’s also a family bathroom on the first floor where you can have a long soak in the bath and quick showers to start your day. On warm evenings, end the day sitting outside on the patio with a glass of something chilled as the sun goes down.

Wander to the waterfront, just over 150 metres from the front door, and pop to the working harbour where you can book a boat trip to the Farne Islands, which has incredible wildlife, including dolphins, seals, and puffins. Explore the narrow streets to discover the town’s fantastic pubs and seafood restaurants, cafes, and shops, and discover the impressive castle looking out across the sea at Bamburgh (3.5 miles). You can walk there along the sand from Seahouses Beach (3 miles), and you’ll find lots of pretty walking trails along the Northumberland Heritage Coast in both directions.

Very warm, cosy and spacious cottage, we really enjoyed our week in farne retreat. One of the best stocked cottage kitchens we have been to, it had everything you needed. So many places to visit in the local area. The parking is tight but we didnt have a problem always somewhere to park.

We had a very pleasant holiday in Farne Retreat, close to the small beach and shell pools. So close to the centre of Seahouses , no need for the car once we parked up.

The cottage is comfortable and in a good location, being less than a minute from the harbour wall. It was delightfully quiet, with the sound of seagulls and sparrows being the main sound. We stayed in October and were able to park in the courtyard each day but I imagine parking in the summer could be challenging. It was a good base, from which we enjoyed exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. Hide

Comfortable, spacious enough for two individuals, shame about the log burner not fit for use. Reply from HolidayCottages.co.uk: Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your stay, I can confirm a replacement handle for the wood burner has now been installed and is now fully operational.

Fantastic location, we loved taking a morning cuppa or evening tipple to the benches at the end of the road overlooking the harbour! Well equipped and comfortable cottage which the photos didn't do justice. Would highly recommend!

The cottage is beautiful, very clean and in an ideal location close to the harbour and a short walk from the town centre. It has a well equipped kitchen and there is a good selection of games and books for children. I would definitely stay here again .

We have holidayed in Seahouses many times before, but this was the first time we had rented this cottage and it is the nicest one we have stayed at. It is perfectly situated - the harbour is literally round the corner - and pubs, shops, boat rides, the Co Op, bus stops to Craster, Alnwick, Berwick etc. are all 5 minutes away. The cottage was clean,Read more comfortable and nicely furnished with three bedrooms that can sleep up to 5. It was very quiet at night and everyone slept very well while we were there. We didn't cook during the holiday, but the kitchen has everything you'd need if you were spending the evening in. We didn't have a car but there is space for one if you are driving. All bed linen and towels are provided, which was excellent. We have stayed in cottages that didn't provide towels and it's a pain lugging them up in suitcases (especially when you're travelling by train). We had a fabulous week and we will certainly be renting this cottage again. Hide

Cottage is in a great quiet location but only minutes from the harbour, shops and pubs. Has a nice characterful feel and we found it to be clean & well equipped. Re parking - we have an Astra Estate and did not have a problem parking it (with care). We stayed for two weeks and went out most days in the car and always had a space to come back to.
