Immerse yourselves in the very best of rural and coastal Northumberland when you stay at this cottage near Belford. Positioned on the fringes of a working farm, the characterful, two-bedroom hideaway sleeps four guests and is also a great choice for anyone wishing to bring a canine companion. Offering single-storey accommodation, it has a garden with a gorgeous rural outlook and a wood burner for cosy evenings. It is 7.5 miles from the beach at Bamburgh.

Take five steps up to let yourselves into the porch, where you can leave your wellies, walking boots and beach shoes. Head into the galley-style kitchen, with its attractive stone wall, to make cups of tea and unpack any shopping. Prepare meals in here too for your friends and family and sit down in the light-filled conservatory/diner, which has wonderful views out over the fields. Open the doors in the conservatory on warm days to bring in the fresh Northumberland air. Relax together in the adjoining lounge, with the wood burner crackling and your favourite programme on the TV. Choose a book from the shelf, play a game or simply chat instead. When you are ready to turn in for the night, stroll through to the king-size bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room, or the twin. There is also a family bathroom. Spill out into the garden to play games with the children or dogs on the lawn. Dine out here in the sunshine too, taking in the scenic views.

Walk 1.5 miles into Belford to potter in the shops, dine out in a friendly pub or visit the museum. Head into Bamburgh to walk along the beach, swim or paddle and see the historic castle. From Seahouses, 10.5 miles away, you can take boat trips out to the Farne Islands.

Good location with great conservatory overlooking moor. Kitchen well equipped. Easy walk direct from cottage up onto moor. Cottage cosy but we found it cold. Internet extremely poor and we were unable to watch TV as no connection. Although located within a working farm, there was no noise. Great walks with the dog around fields and wooded areas, seeing deer and hares each day. Location provided easy access to Bamburgh (10 minutes), Berwick (25 minutes) and surrounding areas. Hope to return next year.
