Get out and about in the beautiful Northumberland countryside when you retreat to this cottage on the fringes of Lowick. Sleeping four guests, and happy to welcome dogs, the two-bedroom abode is perfect for couples or a small family. Situated 9 miles from the beach at Ross Sands and 10 miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed, this delightful property is also perfect for anyone wishing to enjoy days out to the coast.

Enter the cottage and shuffle off your shoes or untie your walking boots in the porch. Head into the lounge to enjoy some well-earned rest and recuperation, perhaps in front of a warming wood burner in the winter months. Musical guests might like to pick out a tune on the piano. Others may prefer to watch TV or a DVD in here. Take a step down into the kitchen to make everyone a cup of tea or a cold drink. Prepare tasty meals here too, then enjoy them together at the table in the conservatory. Open the doors in here to bring in a summer breeze on fine days. The two bedrooms, a king-size and a double, are both also downstairs, together with the family shower room. Climb the steep, narrow, cottage-style stairs up to the attic level to find a snug, with a low double bed that can be made up for children by prior request. Cook supper out on the BBQ in the courtyard garden during the warmer months. Spend summer evenings out here chatting as the sun goes down.

Head into Berwick-upon-Tweed to see the remains of the medieval castle and to follow a 1-mile walk alongside the town’s Elizabethan walls. Stock up on local produce, browse in the shops and dine out while you are here too. You can also spend time on the beach.

We had an excellent, comfortable and enjoyable holiday in a very lovely cottage, we would go for longer in future as it is so far for us to travel.

Overall very happy with the property. The location meant driving everywhere but it was very quiet and peaceful, the village was lovely, very friendly people and the pubs both serve good food. The upstairs TV only got one channel so a better aerial would help. Bit disappointed that the bins didn't seem to have emptied for a while and smelled badly bRead moreut sure this was just an oversight or a bin collector's strike! Hide
