We had such an amazing stay at The Bathing House. We were thrilled to see dolphins and seals from the kitchen window, we enjoyed stargazing and aurora spotting and loved being able to visit Howick Hall and Gardens with the free pass. It is such a special house, steeped in history, in a very special part of the world.

A beautiful property in a prime location. There is something magical about staying somewhere so close to the sea where you can hear the waves. The house is well equipped, spacious and has stunning views. The log burner was great as it was a cold week in February for us and kept us toasty!

This house is very special. After many stays, I was so fascinated by it that I spent three years researching its story and then published a fully illustrated book on it! My recent visit was deeply fulfilling in that I now know about the experiences of the families who lived there over a 150 year period, and of the guests who have stayed there in thRead moree last 50 years. This house feels like home to many people. With its unique history and stunning location, it fully deserves its reputation as iconic. Hide

This property is magical. The cliffside location is breathtaking but, despite this splendid isolation, one doesnt suffer any deprivation as the Housekeeping Department has thoughtfully provided every last little thing visitors might possibly need. Add to this the fast fibre broadband and the unexpected smart tv, and one really has the best of aRead morell worlds here. We stayed for the Christmas week, all cosy and snug, but we imagine the property would be equally fabulous during the Summer months as, again, the Housekeeping Department have provided for every need - we spotted deckchairs, a barbecue, charcoal and lots of trays to ferry food out to the lawn area. Our week flew past too quickly. We will be back! Our week flew by all too quickly and we were sad to leave Hide

Wow, an absolutely amazing place and we felt very lucky to be staying there. The location is absolutely brilliant and going to sleep listening to the pounding of the waves was magical. The house is very comfortable - good sofas; beds etc but I think we might have found it a bit of a squeeze downstairs with 6 people - we were a party of 4 which feltRead more just about right. We were supplied with plenty of logs (very welcome considering we had a very cold week) so the lounge/kitchen/dining area was really cosy. Upstairs was by contrast pretty cold, so be prepared in winter to bring dressing gowns, slippers and warm pyjamas! The kitchen is well-stocked, so cooking is easy or if you prefer eating out, the Jolly Fisherman at Craster is a 45 minute walk along the coastal path and serves amazing food (do book though as very popular) We would also recommend The Ship Inn further along the coast at Low Newton - especially the crab sandwiches - and The Old Boathouse at Amble. Plenty of walks from the front door as you're right on the coastal path and no shortage of places to visit a short drive away. In summary, a very special house in a stunning part of the world. Hide

The only real problem was 6 people could not sit on settees as they only really accommodate 4. We had lots of flies in the property in all rooms, that was a problem too, we couldn't get rid of them. The Bathing House is an exceptional holiday house and we feel privileged to have spent a week there. The situation is stunning. Hearing the roar of the sea as we lay in bed, or sitting on the window seat upstairs watching the crashing waves, whilst warm and cosy was wonderful. We also dipped in the bathing pool below the house, which is a greatRead more way to start the day. Plenty of walks and cycle rides from the house or a short drive away, there's an OS map in the house for route planning. Before we arrived I had an email from the housekeeper, asking whether there was anything we needed on our arrival, this was a really lovely touch, and it was great to know that there was a contact should we have any problems, which we didn't. We arrived in the dark, but the house was warm and welcoming, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Beds and sofas were really comfy, there was an unlimited supply of logs and kindling. Hope that we can visit again sometime. Hide

This cottage is fabulously located. The coast path runs right by the house, but this isn't intrusive. It is well-equipped and cosy, with some nice touches.
