Just 2 miles from your doorstep is the North Pennines Observatory hosting a plethora of stargazing events throughout the year to allow you to explore the ‘darkscape’ of the night sky full of sparkling stars within the Dark Sky Discovery Site. Further south, you’ll find a wonderful walking route beside the River Tees passing High Force Waterfall (21 miles), a picturesque spot to stop off for a picnic before continuing on to Summerhill Force and Gibson’s Cave where you’ll be enchanted by the dramatic spectacle.
