Sleek and stylish, this family-friendly holiday cottage in Northumberland National Park is an excellent location for a getaway at all times of the year. With the Cheviot Hills right on your doorstep, you’ll be able to embark on a new walking adventure each day with panoramic scenery of the park from the summit. Upon returning to your holiday cottage, you’ll love lighting the pretty open fireplace and kicking back to relax in the calming atmosphere created by the thoughtful decor to truly unwind.

A pared-back colour palette in the living rooms encourages guests to switch off with an open fire at the heart of the room and a selection of soft seating to envelope you as you watch a film. Beautiful beams across the ceilings add character alongside the exposed brick fireplace to create the cosiest atmosphere which is just perfect in the winter months. One corner is home to the dining table seating four where family meals can be eaten and board games can be played. The kitchen is located next door, furnished with everything you’ll need to cook up a feast come breakfast, lunch and dinner with sweeping views over the valley keeping you company whilst you get creative. When night falls, the two tastefully decorated bedrooms will help you sink into a slumber, with an impressive king-size bed in one of the rooms and two single beds in the other. Completing the property is the bathroom with panelled walls and pastel hues. Here you can sink into the bathtub with a good book and take a moment of peace whilst away. At the rear of the property is the enclosed garden with a place for children to run and play, as well as a table and chairs where you can enjoy tea and cake accompanied by the stunning landscapes of the national park.

For a spot of shopping, head to the market town of Wooler (10 miles) to peruse the wares of independent sellers and stop off for a bite to eat on a leisurely day out. Whilst the national park is perfect for countryside walks, you’ll also find yourself within 24 miles of the coastline where invigorating clifftop walks and blissful sandy beaches can be found which the whole family are sure to love. Whether you head off on a boat trip to Farne Island from Seahouses (28 miles) or find yourself fascinated by the history of Bamburgh Castle (26 miles), this is sure to be a trip you’ll remember fondly for many years to come.

We loved it! We are active early 70s and the cottage was perfect for us (made me want to downsize!). It was so welcoming and so clean. The bed, the bed linen and towels good quality, everything worked in the kitchen, fridge a good size, really perfect if you were self catering.

We have been holidaying with our friends for 30yrs, we all thought this was the most comfortable and best equipped cottage we have stayed in, ever. The location is just stunning with walks from the door. If your looking for a complete getaway from it all, this is the place we would recommend. We will definitely be back to College Valley.

Such a wonderful, cosy little cottage! We loved the open fireplace which was very atmospheric during the windy evenings. The master bed was huge and so comfortable- gorgeous soft pillows and duvet. The location itself is like nothing on earth. Pure, raw, unspoiled nature farther than the eye can see. Incredible for hiking and wildlife watching. A place for peace, quiet and restoration. We enjoyed being away from the hubbub of busy lives. We had lovely long walks and even saw wild goats. There are a lot of sheep and they are everywhere, so be prepared to keep dogs on a lead.
