The property, which was built in the 18th century, is cosy and welcoming with an open-plan style. The kitchen diner has a cheerful, cottage-style feel with orange and cream tones, while peaceful, neutral decor in the lounge beckons you to sink into the sofas after a long day out and watch your favourite show on TV. Up the wooden staircase, two gorgeous bedrooms await; charming pastel colours will help you drift off to sleep in either the double or the single bedroom – just watch your head in the eaves. The bright bathroom has a shower over the bath which is ideal for quick rinses or long soaks to ease aching muscles after a hike. Outside, there’s the perfect spot for your morning coffee on a bench in the courtyard, surrounded by established plants and flowers.
Make sure you visit the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle (2 miles) where you’ll get great views from the top of the tower. The Alnwick Garden (6 miles) is home to one of the world’s largest wooden treehouses that kids will love.
