Spend your days roaming picturesque landscapes, exploring fascinating castles and strolling along golden sandy beaches. Then return here to rest and recharge in this cosy abode.

Inside, this two-storey farm cottage is warm and welcoming with original fireplaces, relaxed rural decor and thoughtfully chosen artwork and cushions. The lounge invites relaxation after days of exploring with twin sofas, a warming wood burner and a TV. Rustle up meals for two in the spacious country kitchen, then settle around the dining table to eat together. When night falls, head upstairs to the super-king-size bedroom, which can be made up as a twin on request. The family bathroom is next door, boasting a bathtub and a walk-in shower. A bench at the front of the property invites you to sip a morning cuppa in the fresh air to start your day, and there’s off-road parking for two cars.

History enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Chillingham Castle and the National Trust’s Cragside, all within 20 miles. Outdoor lovers will find plenty to amuse them too, with gorgeous walks in the Northumberland National Park including at Linhope Spout Waterfall (11.5 miles). If you’re keen to discover the region’s nature, head to Seahouses Harbour (18 miles) and hop on a boat to the Farne Islands.
