Thoughtfully laid out with families in mind, this darling stone cottage in the village of Catton invites you to embrace an exciting Northumberland adventure. A dynamic layout and plenty of light-filled space can be found in the interior of this detached cottage, whilst the exterior offers a lovely, enclosed garden with a seating area, a BBQ and plenty of grassy space for children to play. The holiday home sleeps four guests, ideal for a small group or a couple eager to stay and make use of a little bit of extra space. Step out to explore walks in the North Pennines all around the property or jump in the car to reach the Northumberland National Park (10 miles) or explore the lively city of Newcastle (30 miles).

Open-plan living awaits in the impressive lounge/kitchen/diner on the property’s ground floor. With a double-height, vaulted ceiling and original wooden beams, this impressive area leaves little to be desired. After a hearty dinner prepared in the fitted kitchen, sink into the comfy sofa with the Smart TV on or a board game setup. From here, find one king-size bedroom with an en-suite just next door and one twin bedroom with another en-suite on the mezzanine level above the lounge. French doors from the lounge space also provide access to the garden.

Catton is a chocolate box Northumberland cottage that sits alongside Allendale (2 miles) and Sinderhope (4.5 miles), surrounded by exciting North Pennines scenery. Spend time walking in the local area, perhaps taking a brilliant route along the River Allen (0.5 miles) to see the area. Keen fishermen may wish to fish this river, or head to Langley Dam Fishery (2.5 miles), a popular local lake for catching trout. Whilst in this area you can also visit Hexham (9 miles), a town that’s stepped in history.

Lovely cottage clean and comfortable. The owners were very kind and helpful. They had left biscuits and they also left freshly baked scones one day after we had been out for the day. Such a shame the weather was not so kind. But very enjoyable.

The owners are wonderful and enormously welcoming. The village is great and the local pub is worth a visit Thursday to Saturday inclusive. In my view the accommodation would work for two adults or two adults with two young children. The kitchen is well equipped and the living area very pleasant.

We had a lovely week in this very nice cottage. It is ideally located to explore Northumberland and parts of County Durham. The owners who live next door gave a very warm welcome and were most helpful. The local Indian restaurant is an added bonus!

This a very nice holiday cottage for a couple to have a break in a very picturesque part of England. The property is very well equipped and has very good heating (particularly important when we visited as the weather was very cold and wet). The owners live next door and very welcoming and helpful in getting us settled in. There is a local pub that Read moreserves food which is worth visiting and there is a nearby Indian restaurant which is good for a takeaway. We would definitely recommend this property Hide
