This traditional stone retreat in Belford is a wonderful property to stay in with family or friends. Sleeping up to six people in three bedrooms, the cottage is close to the town’s amenities but also benefits from plenty to do itself. Its boules area, for example, will keep guests of all ages entertained for times spent relaxing at home.

Enter the property through its front door into a hallway which will take you to the rest of the retreat’s rooms. For starters, there is the snug where you can relax on the comfortable sofas watching TV, reading one of the books on offer, or playing one of the games provided. You could also head to the open-plan kitchen/diner which benefits from dual-aspect windows and a wood burner. It’s a wonderful communal area with a lovely dining table so you can have many a sociable meal here, created in the well-equipped kitchen. The kitchen benefits from a utility area keeping all laundry out of sight. A boot room off the utility area means there’s even more storage. The ground floor also has a charming shower room. Outside, the garden at the back has a patio area with a bistro table and a lawned area with a full-sized boules pitch. There’s also a picnic table for al fresco dining.

The town of Belford is 12 miles from the edge of the Northumberland National Park, or you can head 15 miles south to Alnwick Castle for the day or 15 miles north to Berwick, a traditional market town. There’s plenty to do in the area in terms of shops and eateries but you could try walking or cycling at nearby St. Cuthbert’s Cuddy’s Cave – around 6.5 miles away.

A lovely, well equipped cottage which is centrally located for all the amenities of Belford and a great base for exploring the Northumberland coast. The beds were very comfortable and the log burner made the cottage very cosy. Communication with the owners was excellent and we appreciated the thoughtful touches provided.

We loved our stay. The cottage is a really good size, comfy, clean and well-equipped. We stayed in late October, and the cottage was very nice and warm, and even cosier with the wood burner on. The location is also very good, perfect for days out exploring the castles and coast of Northumberland. The cottage is in the centre of Belford, which is veRead morery handy for the Co-Op and newsagents - but the road through Belford itself is extremely quiet particularly in the evenings. A lovely holiday home, with everything you could possibly need provided and thought of. My children (4 and 7) had hours of fun with all the toys and games provided, and the adults enjoyed the beautiful garden and handy location. Easy to get around Northumberland but a quiet and picturesque place to stay. Would definitely recommend.
