Packed full of original features alongside comfortable soft furnishings and sleek modern finishes, this beautifully presented stone-built cottage is the perfect rural retreat for family or friends in the heart of Northumberland National Park.

Located on the grounds of a sixty-acre country estate in the Tarset Valley, this charming home is a welcome sight after a day of Northumbrian adventure. This reverse-level home has been thoughtfully designed to make the most of the far-reaching countryside views. Upstairs you will find the impressive, open-plan living space with vaulted ceilings and original exposed beams, adding a light and airy feel to the space. Unwind in the lounge and relax on the comfortable leather sofas in front of the warming wood burner. There are bar stools to perch on at the sleek kitchen island, or sit together at the extendable dining table to plan the day’s activities. Alternatively, dine al-fresco at the picnic bench in the suntrap south-facing garden while admiring the fabulous views or starry night skies. When it’s time for bed, three cosy and inviting bedrooms await with wooden floorboards underfoot and inglenook feature fireplaces in two.

Located in Northumberland National Park, fantastic walking and cycling trails begin from the doorstep. The area is an internationally recognised Dark Sky Park territory thanks to the lack of light pollution, and for keen stargazers, Kilder Observatory holds regular public events where you can join the scientists watching the heavens. Greenhaugh (3.5 miles) has a pub/restaurant, and Bellingham (7 miles) is where you will find local shops, pubs, restaurants, and the famed Hareshaw Linn walk. Further afield, Kielder Forest and Water Park (20 miles) is a wonderful, wooded landscape dotted with lakes, ideal for water sports, cycling and walking.

For larger groups, this property can be booked alongside neighbouring Bastle Lodge, providing accommodation for up to 26 guests across the two properties. Please contact us and our team will be happy to assist with coordinating the bookings.

What a find this cottage was, very isolated in an idyllic location with excellent facilities. The very long single track road drive up to it may be daunting to some, but you are rewarded with a tranquil setting with access to great walks on your doorstep, and within easy reach of Kielder Lake, Cragside NT and Hadrians Wall. The cottage was quirky wRead moreith its upside down layout and open plan living. The bedrooms were large and well equipped, and more importantly very comfortable. Highly recommend Hide
