Teeming with history, the county boasts more castles than any other in England, including Lindisfarne (12 miles), Bamburgh (18 miles) and Alnwick (29 miles), which all have something different to offer. If you’re a keen wildlife-spotter, the opportunities are endless including seal-spotting on Lindisfarne or a boat trip to the Farne Islands from Seahouses (22 miles) where puffins congregate in droves.
