Sleeping eighteen, this large and opulent house has been lovingly preserved to retain period grandeur in every room, while modern touches offer a homely feel. Spend your days exploring the Northumberland coastline with its wide open sandy beaches, pretty villages and fabulous coastal path before returning for a dip in the hot tub, an al fresco meal in the garden or a cosy evening in front of the open fire.

 

Access to the property is via the main entrance at the back of the property. Inside, find generous rooms, high ceilings, rich tones, warm soft furnishings and atmospheric lighting. Prepare family feasts on the range-style oven in the traditional kitchen before eating beside the roaring open fire in the elegant dining room. With its sumptuous leather sofas, rich fabrics and original feature fireplace, the main lounge is a wonderful space in which to relax at the end of the day. A sunny conservatory is perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee while the separate reading room is a cosy nook for a peaceful moment. Each of the nine bedrooms has its own TV and en-suite bath or shower room, some of which are furnished with grand four-poster beds. Located in the heart of Alnwick, this Scottish-style country house is just steps from the town’s restaurants, bars, independent shops, market and Europe’s largest second-hand bookstore. Alnwick is also home to a magnificent castle, made famous by the Harry Potter films, plus a golf club and tennis court. Take to the coast with a visit to Alnmouth (4 miles), Beadnell Bay (16.5 miles) or Seahouses (17 miles) or head inland to explore the breath-taking Northumberland National Park (18 miles).

Ravenslaw House is an impressive large house, there were 18 of us (+2 dogs) & there was more than enough room for everyone / space to take yourself off for some quiet time if needed. The kitchen was well equipped & the large dinning room had plenty of space for everyone (a great venue to play a murder mystery game!). This is a lovely homely house. It feels as though you have stepped back in time. All the bedrooms were super comfy and of generous size. Plenty of seating areas dotted around which is useful when you have a big group of people. The conservatory was an especially relaxing space. Great house for a big family get together however some improvements needed to level of cleanliness and communication with housekeeper when issues arise. Owners were however very responsive. That said, great location and lots of space both inside and out.

Location is great and plenty of space for a full compliment of guests. The house while old in style which is lovely, needs work to bring it up to a better standard.... particularly the seating. Showers and beds were fine but pillows and lighting very hit and miss. Generally clean and tidy. Our party particularly enjoyed the sauna and hot tub.

Just had a fantastic long weekend at Ravenslaw House with my family celebrating my 80th birthday. The house was the star, we all loved it from eating in the beautiful dining room to the hot tub and sauna. Couldnt have been more comfortable and welcome pack very nice touch. Will definitely return!!

This was a great house for a family get together. The location is perfect as it allows you to walk to all facilities when necessary but you have the coast within easy driving distance. We particular liked that all the bedrooms were large and each had its own bathroom.
