Delightful stone-built cottage nestled in the heart of this charming seaside village. Beaches abound nearby and everything you need is on the doorstep. A perfect hideaway for families and friends.

Head to this cottage for beach days galore. Sitting on the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, explore a different beach every day and scatter the sand with pawprints and footprints. The nearest sandy stretch is at Alnmouth and is less than a mile away, whilst the beach at Warkworth (5 miles) is great for surfing and sea-swimming. Exuding bags of country-cottage charm and farmhouse style, this pretty abode sleeps five guests over three bedrooms and is perfect for families looking to escape the hustle and bustle.

Make your way inside where you are greeted by handfuls of character and charm. The stable door, exposed stonework and roaring wood burner all welcome you inside with open arms and invite you to feel at home. The cosy lounge with plenty of sofa space for everyone to put their feet up, floral feature wall and warming wood burner is a lovely space in which to curl up and relax or to enjoy a family film night with the table piled high with popcorn. Light floods into the kitchen/diner through the orangery roof, and the window looks out over the patio, inviting you to cook up a storm and enjoy the calming ambience of this bright space. Dine at the table then head out to the patio and climb steps to reach the top deck. Sit with a tipple or take your morning coffee and the paper outside for a relaxing start to your day before the adventures begin. Freshen up in the ground-floor bathroom before ascending to the first floor to hit the pillow. The twin room is reached through the king-size bedroom, making it the perfect arrangement for families with little ones. There is free, on-street parking in the village.

With something to keep everyone entertained, the seaside village of Bamburgh (21.5 miles) is home to a beach, a castle and a golf course, all with fantastic views over the ocean. Just before you reach Bamburgh, is Seahouses (17 miles), from here you can hop on a boat and travel to the Farne Islands where wildlife and birdlife are abundant.

We had a really wonderful stay at Sonsy Cottage. It is decorated beautifully, well equipped, warm, the beds are comfy and the cake was delicious, thank you. Alnmouth is a favourite holiday spot for us with so much to see and do nearby. The cottage was a lovely place to return to and relax. We would love to stay again if available.

We had a wonderful week staying at Sonsy Cottage. Great location in the village. Lovely interior decor and very comfortable. We ate out at several of the places recommended, all of which were very good. We appreciated the cake which had been left for us on our arrival. We contacted the owner to ask about the heating whilst we were there, and he wasRead more very helpful. Can thoroughly recommend. Hide

Lovely, well equipped, comfortable cottage. Great location tucked away in the centre of Alnmouth (no parking but not hard to find a nearby space locally in May).

We loved Alnmouth and the cottage location and accommodation was good for our family group and dog. Street parking was in demand even in June so loading and unloading on arrival and departure was a challenge. It would be wise to book for a Sunday evening meal on arrival since only Whittling House was serving meals in the village. Thank you for the Read morecake on arrival. Hide

The lounge was nicely decorated and restful and the bedrooms were all inviting. The twin bedroom is off the master which I hadnt appreciated when I booked but was perfect for our toddler.
