This wonderful period property is perfect for a cosy country retreat. With its fantastic traditional open range fire and enclosed garden with a lovely summer house to enjoy.

Stay at this charming stone property in the historical village of Otterburn for a rural retreat with your loved ones. It's right on the edge of Northumberland National Park, a haven for hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers. Spend a day in the hills or marvelling at fascinating castles, then settle in for the night in front of a cosy traditional fire. The house sleeps up to four people as well as two dogs, so there's no need to leave your pets at home.

This traditional cottage is beautifully decorated in a period style that's befitting of the building, with antique furniture and vintage-inspired soft furnishings in muted shades. Relax with a book on one of the sumptuous sofas while your canine companions doze off by the roaring fire. The outdoor space has stone steps, decking and a seating area. On slower days, enjoy a home-cooked lunch in the dining area then take a pot of afternoon coffee out to the summer house at the end of the garden. At night, make sure you check out the sky – in clear weather, you'll be wowed at how bright the stars are!

The village, where you can enjoy a pub lunch and delicious meals out, offers wonderful views over the surrounding moorland and hills. Or spend an afternoon at Rothbury (15 miles), a pretty riverside town with independent shops. An absolute find. Great location for exploring the hills, coast and Hadrians Wall. The lounge is gorgeous - very cosy with an open fire and great lounging sofas. We had a lovely time here, the cottage is very homely and we made use of the log fire. Location is great but the road outside can get busy. The local pub William de Percy is fab for a drink or a meal we ate there twice. We took our little dog and the cottage and pub welcomed her, we would stay again.
