Spend a relaxed holiday in this welcoming cottage in Boulmer, a fishing village on the scenic Northumberland Coast. With sea views to greet you in the morning and the beach just steps away, this is very much a seaside holiday location where you can discover the true joys of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The house sleeps up to four humans and can welcome three dogs too (who'll love the beachside location just as much as you).
This cosy property has a combined lounge/dining area that's perfect for spending time together, perhaps playing cards or deciding on activities for the following day. In the evening, settle on the sofa with a cuppa and watch a DVD with your dog snuggled up at your feet. If it's chilly outside, you can keep warm with the electric fire. There's a garden at the rear and another to the side – on warmer evenings, enjoy a meal in the fresh air with a backdrop of the North Sea behind you. There's also a BBQ where you can sizzle up a feast to share.
You can reach the beach by crossing the green behind the house. Take a morning stroll along the sand or head out for a longer walk (or cycle) along the coastal path, which runs the full length of the county. In Boulmer, you'll find a friendly pub where you can pop in for a pint, and a tiny, quaint art gallery. Head to Alnmouth (3.5 miles) if you fancy a round of golf; there are also village shops to explore here. The 14th-century Dunstanburgh Castle (7.5 miles), which stands on a remote headland, is well worth a visit for a dose of history.
