Countryfile Magazine awarded Embleton Bay Beach of the Year!
This two bedroom cottage is full of quirk and character. Built using the local Whinstone (hence the name) it was once the Quarry Master’s house in Embleton. Set on a high point in the centre of the village, Whinstone Cottage offers lovely sea views from the rear of the cottage across the gardens and down towards Dunstanburgh beach and links golf course. Embleton is a great base for walking and the Telegraph newspaper wrote an article highlighting the joys of walking in the area. You can walk to the beach which is about one mile away down a country track and past the golf club. Just moments from the cottage you will find a lovely italian restaurant called Sambuca, with very reasonable prices and delicous food you might just find yourself here more than once!
Once inside the cottage, a stone flagged hallway leads to a light and spacious living room which has wooden floors and views towards the sea. There is an original, stone chimney breast housing a log burning stove and plenty of books in most rooms, ideal for cosy nights in. The owners have not furnished this cottage in a modern style - it is in fact, furnished in keeping with the character and age of the property - from the grandfather clock that greets you in the hall to the original antique wooden kitchen table so, if you love a bit of old-fashioned character, then you will love Whinstone Cottage.
Please Note: A new Fischer Smart Heating System has been installed in the cottage which is fully controllable in each individual room, making Whinstone Cottage a warm and cosy option all year round.
This cottage accepts two well behaved dogs.
