If you are looking for a traditional, romantic cottage for two, then look no further! The Old Stable is located next to the church in the pretty village of Eglingham with a great pub and is steeped in 18th Century history and has recently undergone a beautiful, internal refurbishment at the loving hands of the cottage’s owners, to allow their guests to enjoy the very best of both worlds; a range of modern facilities alongside original features and character a-plenty!
The Old Stable and coach house was originally built for the local vicar in around 1706, who also happened to be the Archdeacon of Lindisfarne! The cottage is snug and warm and still retains all of its old-world charm. The typically warm colour of the Northumberland stone and the former stable windows and other features retain the essence of the true nature of the building, while the many new facilities, such as free guest Wi-Fi, a cosy, wood burning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, off-road parking and a large, enclosed garden make this a luxurious, little retreat.
The Tankerville Arms pub in the village can offer you a friendly place to enjoy a drink and a meal and from Eglingham, you are only 15 minutes drive from iconic Alnwick Castle and the world famous horticultural treat that is The Alnwick Gardens. Alnwick is a market town and has a wide range of independent shops, bars and restaurants. Barter Books is a must visit, as is The Treehouse Restaurant located in the Alnwick Gardens and there is so much more to see and do here!
Wooler has a great range of independent shops too and affords access to the foothills of The Cheviot Hills about 25 minutes from the cottage while the glorious Northumberland coastline, Bamburgh beach and castle and Seahouses beach, harbour and trips to The Farne Islands is less than half an hour away.
The Old Stable welcomes one well behaved dog.
