We really enjoyed our holiday here. Its a lovely, well equipped cottage and was very clean. Location is very handy, easy access to Low Newton-by-the-sea and Embleton. The negative for us were there is no direct access to enclosed garden. It was a bit of pain to get our elderly, blind dog to the garden in the middle of the night when she needed a weRead moree! The train track runs directly behind the bedroom and does not stop at 11pm as stated in details. Overall good value and would recommend. Hide

Lovely cottage with all you need for a weeks holiday Excellent location But Very close to railway line-we also live next to the east coast main line but our house is not so close. Also not near a level crossing so the warning bell took a bit to get used to.

Perfect holiday stay. Close to footpaths and not far from gorgeous sandy beaches. Lovely clean and warm accommodation. Both my husband and I, and our 2 dogs had a wonderful time. The local pub is definitely worth a visit too.

Lovely clean, warm and comfortable cottage. We stayed in the smaller one and found it had ample space. Found sound of trains comforting too. Would go back again.

Warm and cosy cottage with pleasant views over fields. Acclimatized to the passing trains but neighbours' small child running about was intrusive, because of thin walls. Comfortable beds, mostly well equipped but no freezer. Would have enjoyed a welcome tray and a visitor's book.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. However, I wish I had known at time of booking that the log burner was out of commission and that we have no control as to when the heating comes on. It is timed for early morning and late afternoon. The controls for heating are in a locked cupboard in adjacent property. I have never experienced this in a holiday rentalRead more before so found it a bit annoying. Slightly lacking cosiness. Good location for beaches. Trains infrequent but very close. Hide

The cottage is in a lovely spot and we were able to explore the coastline with little travel. It would be an excellent location for a family, with easy access to the many beautiful beaches. The rail track wasn't too much of a disturbance. The local Blink Bonny pub was also most welcoming and served an excellent pint! There were a few good hostelrieRead mores along our travels, but the cottage allowed us to easily prepare simple meals. Apart from a comfortable bed, a recommendable property!! Hide

No problem with the trains you hardly notice them. We found the property uncomfortably hot when we returned late afternoons because the sun shines straight onto it in the afternoon & there was only a floor to ceiling window with no opening so very difficult to cool down. We stayed in Newton Halt North and the adjoining Newton Halt South was also occupied but the was not any disturbing sounds. The trains soon become a part of the expected sounds during time spent there mainly the evenings. Great with the dog places close to give him a late evening walk. Property was comfortable and spacious.

Great holiday good access to everywhere we needed to go to but just bear in mind that you are directly next the the rail line which is quite busy and has a freight train at 3am most mornings but nothing you cant adjust to, but perhaps the rate should reflect this?

Lovely place to stay. I wasn't bothered by the train line behind the property. Woodburner made the place really toasty and warm. Great location to get to Alnwick, Seahouses/Bamburgh and I went to the Northumberland National Park too. Dunstanburgh Castle is about 4 miles walk away, lovely to walk along a section of the coastal path.
