Courtyard Cottage is a beautifully furnished holiday cottage, set in the grounds of Riding Hills Farm, on the outskirts of Riding Mill near Hexham. Perfectly formed, this compact annex- style cottage has been well designed and offers a separate kitchen, open plan living/bedroom with a small, en-suite shower room and is an idyllic retreat for couples. The cottage is on one level, with just three broad steps up to the entrance, so is suitable for guests with restricted mobility. The kitchen houses a beautiful Everhot range cooker with 2 large ovens, cast iron hot and simmer plates with an integral grill. The living area is tastefully decorated and has two comfortable armchairs and a 42-inch smart TV. The bedroom area has a double bed and leads into a small, en-suite shower room, with wash basin and toilet. There is a designated parking space a short distance to the rear, together with a delightful picnic area overlooking the uninterrupted countryside surrounding Riding Hills Farm.

Riding Mill stands on the south bank of the Tyne, sixteen miles west of Newcastle and five miles east of Hexham. The village has a welcoming pub, the Wellington, which has a warm and cosy atmosphere, traditional British food with great service.

Also within the village is Riding Mill station, dating back to 1835, where the original building still stands and is fully operational, connecting you along the Newcastle to Carlisle line. For a unique experience, why not book the Passage to India Train which departs from Newcastle and passes through Riding Mill, to connect you to the award-winning Valley Restaurant at Corbridge.

Just four miles away is the beautiful historic village of Corbridge, with a range of interesting Roman sites to visit and St Andrews Church in the centre with its Saxon window, Roman arch and Norman door. The village has innovative and interesting shops, pubs and coffee shops and its bridge dating back to the 17th Century, the only bridge to survive the great flood of 1771, such was the height of the water that during the night persons stood on the bridge and washed their hands in the river (WJ Palmer 1882).

There are some great local places to eat and drink nearby, including the Wellington (1 mile), the Duke of Wellington (5 miles), the Angel of Corbridge (4 miles), the Manor House (7 miles) which are all great pub/restaurants and of course, Wheelbirk’s award winning yummy Ice Cream parlour is only 10 minutes away by car - a must visit!!

Bed linen, towels, heating and hot water are all included.

The cottage is ideal for a short break. The location is quiet and in a beautiful spot. Ideally take food suitable for microwaving if you want a hot meal or eat out locally.

Nice and cosy little cottage in a prime location. Very friendly and helpful manager. Kitchen is well equipped but take into consideration that there is a stove and not your regular hob. Easy enough but takes some getting used to.

The cottage was in a perfect location for a local event we were attending, it was extremely comfortable well furnished, bright and airy. On our first night l had the delight of seeing a perfect starlit sky through the skylight, i went outside to enjoy it, a special experience

The cottage is perfect apart from the issue with light coming through the skylights. Charles was excellent. I think having some soap (just small ones) would improve the experience. This is a reasonable expectation when staying somewhere.

There needs to be a more honest description of the tiny area offered at this property. It certainly was not clear in the advert that the bedroom and living area were as one and only very small. The shower room was so small that it was hard to dry yourself in it and neither of us are large. The seating area up by the car parking area was overgrown aRead morend not kept clean and therefore unusable. Not made welcome by who we presume was the owner. Good location. Very disappointed. Hide

A comfortable and warm cottage with everything you would need. The views from the decking with table and chairs is beautiful.

We knew that the property was described as 'bijou' and were prepared for this. However, a sense of welcome seemed missing - every cottage previously stayed in had a welcome tray and soap in the bathroom [after a long drive, a necessity!] The stove took at least 1 -1/2 hrs to heat up so not suitable for a rental. The bed linen provided had seen bettRead moreer days - flat pillows are uncomfortable!. A jug of milk and some teabags would have felt welcoming as would some soap in the shower room! Hide

Overall a very sweet little property in a beautiful location. Certain things to be expected because of location, such as bird calls and poor signal/Internet. Would recommend taking sleep masks as the light comes in overbed sky light.

Lovely studio apartment - as per previous reviews the shower room is small however it has got everything you need and was perfect for a few days away.
