This cottage is a beautifully finished, home from home holiday property with lots of lovely, thoughtful touches to make your holiday extra special. Located within just a minute’s walk of the centre of Seahouses village with plenty of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from; not to mention the busy fishing harbour where you can enjoy boat trips over to The Farne Islands. Cockle Cottage has easy access to the nearby coastal footpath linking you to the other seaside villages along this stunning Heritage Coastline.
The cottage is set a little way back from the road and from the front door you will come in to a small hallway with a cloakroom complete with WC. The hallway leads into an open-plan lounge and dining area with two leather sofas, coffee table and Smart TV, plus a wood burner-effect electric fire which makes for a cosy evening in when you want to relax and watch a film. The dining area has a table with seating for up to four guests where you can enjoy some home-cooked meals in together. The kitchen is spacious and has everything you will need, including an electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Upstairs there are two tastefully furnished bedrooms, including the master bedroom with a king-size bed, double wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower and WC. The second bedroom has twin beds. There is also a family bathroom with a bath and WC.
Outside at the rear, there is an enclosed patio-style garden with outdoor furniture and there is parking for two cars. The cottage is centrally heated for a cosy stay any time of year.
Seahouses is a beautiful seaside village in Northumberland. The village has plenty of places to eat, whether in a restaurant, cafe or takeaway. There are a friendly pubs within walking distance from the cottage and you will find a co-op supermarket for your extra supplies. Seahouses has a lovely golden beach and coastal path and a stunning golf course, as well as the bustling harbour, where you can take a boat trip across to the Farne Islands which is a famous sea bird sanctuary with a colony of Grey Seals. A little further up the coast you will find beautiful Bamburgh village with the iconic Bamburgh Castle as the backdrop.
Just half an hours' drive from Seahouses, is the famous Alnwick Castle, where Harry Potter was once filmed. The castle is one of Britain’s most iconic castles and they have an array of events on throughout the year. You can visit their state rooms and discover the second largest inhabited castle in the UK. Dating back to the 1309 its story has been intertwined by the Percy Family, who still live on site today. Next to Alnwick Castle is the amazing Alnwick Gardens. With their large treehouse restaurant, this garden is one of the world’s most extraordinary contemporary gardens. You can purchase a combined ticket and visit both the gardens and the castle in one day.
