Visit the Farne Islands

Take a boat trip to the Farne Islands this Easter. The Farne Islands lie 2 to 3 miles off the Northumberland Coast middway between the fishing village of Seahouses and Bamburgh Castle. The Farne’s are the most famous Sea Bird Sanctuary in the British Isles and also have a large colony of Atlantic Grey Seals. The Puffins usually return to the Farne Islands in early April, but this year perhaps due to the milder weather, the Puffins have returned early in March. Follow the trail through The Alnwick Garden as you hunt for the Lindt Gold Bunny, with a special treat for everyone who completes the trail.

Medieval Archer – Bamburgh Castle
Saturday 5th April

Try your hand at medieval archery under the guide of Rusty Bodkins at Bamburgh Castle. Great fun!

Follow the trail through The Alnwick Garden as you hunt for the Lindt Gold Bunny, with a special treat for everyone who completes the trail.

Brick City - Centre for Life
Event on until 21 April

This is an exhibition of the models featured in the Lego book, Brick City. Highlighting amazing architecture, art and design from across the world incorporating over 60 landmarks including the Colosseum in Rome, Berlin’s TV Tower and the London 2012 Olympic Park. You can also have a go at creating your own LEGO constructions!

Belsay Woodland – Alice in Wonderland Family Trail
5th April – 21st April

Follow the trail and find characters from Alice in Wonderland hidden in the grounds around Belsay, come and join in the fun and you may even get a small prize when you complete the trail.

Kirkley Hall – Food and Drink Festival
Sunday 6th April

Kirkley Hall will be serving up the best food the North East has to offer, with a range of stalls serving a selection of sweet and savoury delights!
Why not also combine your visit with a trip to Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens to see the lambs and their brand new aquatics area.

Whitehouse Farm
Saturday 5th April – Easter Monday 21st April
Easter wouldn’t be the same without a trip to the farm. Why not head to Whitehouse Farm this Easter and enjoy a whole host of Easter themed activities all day including magic shows, Easter games with prizes & giveaways and an Easter Egg Hunt. There have been lots of new arrivals at the Farm this Spring from lambs to calves, fluffy bunnies & little chicks. You can bottle feed the lambs and there are lots of small animals for little ones to hold.

Cadbury’s Easter Egg Trails
Good Friday 18th – Monday 21st April

Come and join in some Easter Fun at one of the North East National Trust properties. On the day, we will inspire your child's inner adventurer and transform them into an Eggsplorer! On completing the trail they will be rewarded with a delicious Cadbury Egghead. There will also be great prizes that can be won by the whole family.
Times of trails vary and there is a small additional charge to participate. Participating North East National Trust sites include: Lindisfarne Castle, Low Newton by the Sea, Cragside and Gibside.

Bamburgh Castle – Beastly Egg Hunt
Easter Sunday 20th April

Join in the Easter fun at Bamburgh Castle for a Beastly Egg Hunt. Find all the eggs hidden around the castle grounds before the huntsman and enter the Kings Draw for a beastly prize!

Easter Adventure Quest – Belsay Hall
Good Friday 18th – Easter Monday 21st April

Discover characters from the past with stories of times gone by - maybe a king, a butler, a Roman centurion or even a monk. These honorable folk will be happy to help you on your quest as you explore Belsay Hall and unravel the clues. Complete the challenge and you’ll reap a sweet reward.
