The Northumberland National Park is often described as one of the most tranquil places in England. The dramatic hills and sheltered valleys extend from Hadrian’s Wall to the Scottish border. In the Northumberland National Park you will experience breathtaking, peaceful wilderness and open landscapes. This is an area of the world where you can truly escape the stresses and strains of modern life.

Walkers can stroll through the wild forests and wander alongside peaceful watersides. There are miles of tracks for horse riders and cyclist across challenging moorland, through hidden valleys or you can ride along quiet open roads that pass though picturesque rural villages such as Elsdon, Falstone, Greenhaugh and Alwinton where you rest and enjoy the pubs and cafes.

Northumberland's rivers provide superb game and coarse fishing. The River Tyne is now considered to be England's premier salmon river with migratory fish returning from spring onwards. Summer spates introduce runs of sea trout with large specimens found in the Tyne, Coquet and Tweed. There are also a number of large and small still waters available for both bank and boat fishing. Anglars can find out more about local fishing competitions and how to obtain a fishing license in local fishing tackle shops. The wide open spaces and special habitats of the national park also offer plenty of opportunities for birdwatchers.

We offer a selection of 3 and 4* luxury holiday cottages in a small hamlet called Netherton. This peaceful village is situated at the edge of the National Park and is a truly wonderful location to spend a holiday or short break. With Rothbury, Alnwick, the coastline, Cheviot and Simonside Hills within easy reach and the National Park on your doorstep, what more could you need!

This collection of self-catering holiday cottages has been carefully converted from a grand 19th century stone-built farm steading in 2009. The farm steading was originally an integral part of the Cragside Estate, owned by the perhaps the greatest Victorian inventor and industrialists, Lord Armstrong. ‘Cragside’ is now owned by the National Trust and a must see for all those visiting the area and is located only a few minutes drive from the cottages.
